Why Snoring Treatment

Changes Everything

Nightlase® is a fast, non-invasive, and patient-friendly laser therapy. It reduces snoring amplitude (volume) with a gentle, laser-induced tightening effect. This process rebuilds defective collagen in the soft tissues at the back of the mouth and throat, opens the airways, and helps promote more restful sleep. Most patients see a noticeable reduction in snoring after just 3 sessions, with up to 80 per cent reporting significant improvement in sleep quality and daytime energy levels. Dibamed is one of the few clinics in Dubai that is registered directly with Fotona as recognised NightLase® providers.

Who Needs Snoring Treatment?

Snoring happens when the airways behind your nose and throat become loose or partially blocked, usually by soft tissue that relaxes too much during sleep. As you breathe, this relaxed tissue collapses into the airway, narrowing it. The air passing through the tissue causes it to vibrate, producing the sound of snoring. Treating this loose or blocked tissue helps keep your airway open and reduces snoring.

This is for you if:

  • Your snoring comes from your throat, not a blocked nose
  • Your sleep partner has complained, recorded you, or moved to another room
  • You wake up tired even after a full night in bed
  • You are over 40, carrying extra weight, or under chronic stress, and the snoring is getting louder
  • You want a non-invasive treatment, and minimum downtime

Did You Know?

Snoring may result in waking with headaches or a low mood each morning. Heavy snoring can reduce oxygen supply to the brain during sleep. Persistently low oxygen levels may trigger headaches and irritability, and frequent episodes could signal underlying health concerns.

What to Expect

Step 1: Consultation

1

You do not need a separate session; consultation can be combined with the first treatment session. Your doctor reviews your oral and systemic health, discusses your sleep patterns, and sets a baseline using the SnoreLab app and professional photography of your soft palate.

Step 2: Laser Treatment Sessions

Each session lasts 30 minutes, and your doctor will treat 8 areas of your mouth. During the session, you will only feel slight warmth, and in some cases, there might be a slight sore throat after treatment and the next morning. After your session, it is best to avoid hot or spicy foods for a few hours and drink plenty of water to stay comfortable. Most patients return to normal activities immediately.

2

Step 3: Determine the number of treatment sessions

Depending on the severity of snoring, 3 to 9 sessions are required, scheduled 3 weeks apart. Based on your progress, the interval between sessions may be extended to 5 to 6 weeks. Most patients complete their full Nightlase® treatment in approximately 3 to 6 months. It is advised to record snoring using the Snorlab App 3 days before each session to compare with previous results and evaluate the outcome.

3

Step 4: Revaluation

We track your progress with the SnoreLab App and professional photographs of your soft palate. Touch-up sessions will be required after 9 to 12 months to ensure the soft tissue remains tight after the laser treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the treatment uncomfortable?

No. The treatment is minimally invasive. You may feel warmth during the session and a dry or scratchy throat for the rest of the day.

How long does the treatment take?

Each session is 30 minutes in length, and the treatment consists of 3 appointments. However, in some situations, additional treatments may be desired.

Will my result look natural?

NightLase tightens tissue you cannot see. There are no visible changes to your face, your mouth, or your voice. Your sleep partner will notice the difference long before anyone else does.

What precautions should I take before treatment?

Bring any sleep study reports you have. Eat and take your usual medications as normal.

What should I expect immediately after?

A dry or scratchy throat for the rest of the day. Sometimes a mild sore throat for one to two days. Drink plenty of water. A moisturising mouth spray or coconut oil helps if the dryness is uncomfortable.

How long will my result last?

Most patients return once a year for a touch-up, often at the same visit as their dental cleaning. Please note that NightLase is strictly a therapy to help maintain a more open airway during sleep and daytime hours and to reduce snoring. It does not eliminate snoring.

Is everyone a suitable candidate?

No. If your airway is blocked by bone rather than soft tissue, NightLase will not work for you. The doctor assesses this at your first consultation and will tell you honestly whether to proceed.

How much does each session cost?

AED 700 per session, payable at the time of treatment.

Can this replace my CPAP?

No. NightLase works alongside a CPAP, not in place of one. Only a sleep specialist can tell you if you can stop using a CPAP.

Does my insurance cover this treatment?

Insurance coverage is not available for Orthodontics, Veneers, and Snoring treatments. We recommend checking with your provider for any personal coverage options before your appointment.
